"Absolutely the worst experience ever !!! if I could give no stars I would. They clearly don't have a clue what they are doing. Gave me a quote on my three family property and made me wait for over a month to finalize the policy only to say that there underwriting department changed the guidelines and my rate would be almost a thousand dollars more and my deductible would be five times more then my current policy. in order to get that rate and with no claims ever. All because they didn't know that a three family is a multi-family property??? it was one of the first questions they asked. and it took them over a month to figure this out. I made five calls two emails checking on the status. they totally wasted my time. and no apology either only blaming the underwriting department. beware!!!"

"All I have to say is wow! Mariah McClay has exceptional customer service skills. She was personable, smart, and was truly interested in saving me money on my car insurance and also possibly my home insurance. I had been with Geico for 17 years. "Edited to add: after frantically searching for options after being told I wasn’t at all insured by Mariah - giving me no notice to find coverage- a different Statefarm agent in Wells Maine was able to write and issue me a policy with no issues. This speaks strongly to Mariah’s lack of care with handling our insurance policy. All questions were answered both identically & honestly to each agent. So how she messed that up trying to pass me off to a different insurance company, is baffling to me. Mariah took almost 1 month to tell me I was uninsured and my policy had been canceled. This new agent took 2 days to ISSUE me a policy. Something is not right with Mariah’s business practices. If I could give zero stars I would. Mariah was super unreliable. We were referred to her by someone else who uses her. She was very friendly. We spoke. She quoted me for a property we were closing on in a few weeks. We accepted and had to arrange a specific phone call to pay for the policy to proceed. The time came and went that day (the only 15 minute time frame she had available for me) and she didn’t call. So I called her. She took my payment information and said she would send the policy that night. She never did. Never ran my card. The bank was pressing for the binder days later so I reached out to her and got an email that she was out of the office on vacation now. She ended up sending it. Fast forward. We close. A couple weeks later she calls to ask me if we closed?? Also asked me what unit number we were (information that I had already given her.) just very random. Fast forward 12 more days- I get an email from Mariah at 9:58 AM telling me she won’t be available from 10AM-2PM but unfortunately we ARENT INSURED. They cancelled our policy. No notice. They cannot insure seasonal rental properties. The person who referred me has SEVERAL seasonal rental properties. So I asked - are they dropping all of hers? Wouldn’t answer. I asked when this change happened. “Ummmm 2 weeks ago?” I would never recommended Mariah to anyone. I’ve called another Statefarm Agent who said this is not true and not a change. I will be reporting Mariah’s sketchy business practices to corporate and have attached “receipts” as proof of her consistent incompetence."

That said, there are instances, like this one, where company policy changes create challenges that are beyond my control. If provided with the same information and circumstances, I’m confident underwriting’s decision would have the same outcome. I would never compromise my integrity by putting anyone in a position where coverage could be questioned or denied. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and we are glad to hear that you were able to secure coverage elsewhere. Thank you again for your feedback, I truly apologize for any inconvenience this situation may have caused you, and I wish you the best in your search for kindness—something we could all use a little more of these days."
